Yesterday, HQ DoDEA Public Affairs released the first in a series of three Chat Room programs that focus on the college admissions process. They hope these shows will be of interest to high school students, parents, and counselors. Please provide this link to parents of your students.
The first program deals with the college admissions process. The guest is Dr. Andrew Flagel, Dean of Admissions, at George Mason University. Andrew Flagel became Dean of Admissions at George Mason University on July 2001, where he also teaches in the Department of Communication. Dean Flagel has presented over 350 seminars on the college admissions process, been a featured speaker at national conferences, and has been a featured guest on C-Span’s Washington Journal. He gives some great tips on applying to schools and what admissions officers are looking for in the process.
George Mason University is a public institution in Fairfax, Virginia with almost 5,000 students living on campus; GM University boasts one of the largest residential communities in Virginia. GM University students come from all 50 states and more than 125 countries, creating an environment rich in cultural perspectives. Many former DoDEA students have attended this university.
You can find Dr. Flagel’s interview on the DoDEA home page at www.dodea.edu or in the video releases at http://www.dodea.edu/pressroom/video.cfm?cId=chatrm
HQ DoDEA Public Affairs will follow this Chat Room up with two other programs in November.
